We understand that you, or your child, may feel anxious about visiting the dentist; you are not alone, and our practice puts forth an extra effort to make sure that you are comfortable and happy every time you visit our practice. Bring your smile, but also remember to bring these things with you to your first dental appointment:
- Your completed Health History Forms
- You or your child's medications. We recommend that you bring the actual medications so that no mistakes are made when writing them out
- Your insurance card
Regular checkups are an important part of maintaining your healthy smile!
No matter what your age, visiting the dentist on a regular basis will help keep your teeth and gums healthy and your smile bright!
The American Dental Association recommends that you, and your child, visit the dentist every six months for regular checkups and routine teeth cleanings, and we would love to see you here every six months to make sure that your smile is staying healthy!
Our Appointment Policy
Our dental practice is unlike any other in the Metropolitan Detroit area. Besides working exclusively with children of all ages and severity of need, we are the largest pediatric dental care provider in the area and, through our affiliation with Children’s Hospital of Michigan, we are a specialty teaching facility and provide emergency dental care for hospital patients. The demand for our services far exceeds our capacity to provide care. Because our goal is to provide access to the best quality care that we can to the greatest number of patients that can be seen within our limitations, we have had to adopt a very strict appointment confirmation policy. Please understand that it is intended solely to maximize our ability to provide access to dental care in a coordinated fashion.
All appointments must be confirmed no later than 11:00 AM on the business day immediately preceding a scheduled appointment or your time slot will be assigned to another patient. Confirmations can be made using either of the following procedures.
1. Automated Telephone Service.
It is our standard procedure, whenever possible, to call you in the early evening of the 3rd business day before the appointment date at the telephone number listed in our records. For instance, for a Monday appointment, you would be called on the preceding Wednesday evening; for a Wednesday appointment you would be called on the preceding Friday evening; etc. We use an automated telephone messaging service. Should you answer this call, you will be given the opportunity to confirm or cancel your appointment at that time. If you do not answer the call but have voicemail, a message will be left indicating that you must call us during our regular business hours to confirm your appointment in the manner described below.
2. Parent/Guardian Call In.
Unless you have confirmed your appointment by use of the automated telephone messaging service described above, you must follow the instructions below to confirm an appointment. Call our office at 313-833-2895 within the 2 business day period immediately preceding the appointment date (for example Thursday or Friday for a Monday appointment) but in no event later than 11:00 AM on the business day immediately preceding the appointment date. Please note that voicemail confirmations cannot be accepted. You must speak with a front desk receptionist at which time you will be given a confirmation validation number and any special instructions concerning your appointment. Please make note of this number, as it will be used at check-in to verify your confirmation.
Failure to confirm as shown above will result in a broken appointment, and we will have to give the appointment to another patient on our waiting list
